The St Winefride’s Girls football team have had double success to celebrate over the last couple of weeks.

On Wednesday 12th July the girls triumphed in the Fr Denis Hall Cup, which was held at the West Ham United Academy Pitches, winning five out of six matches, drawing the other one, without conceding a goal in the whole competition! It was St Winefride’s first ever victory in the tournament and the whole school are tremendously proud of this wonderful achievement. 

The very next day the girls travelled to Essex Primary School for the semi final of the Manor Park Cup and blasted their way to a very impressive 7-1 victory! This meant that they had reached the final of the very first Manor Park Cup, a new competition organised by the schools in the Manor Park area.

On Monday 17th July the girls went to Little Ilford School who were kindly hosting the finals and after a cagey start, while getting used to the size of the pitch, the girls went into the half time break leading 1-0. Gaining in confidence all the time the girls stretched their lead constantly after the break, running out deserved 5-1 winners and becoming Double winners!
