Hargreaves Deanery Y6 Secondary Transition Day
15th Jul 2022
On a fine sunny Monday on the 4th July all the Year 6 pupils from the 7 Catholic Primary Newham Schools attended a secondary transition day at Hargreaves Scout Camp. The overall theme of 'transition' incorporated 6 sub-themed activities namely, making friends, problem solving, reflection, resilience and perseverance, team building, developing social skills. The activities were led and supported by around forty Y10 St Angela’s and St Bonaventure’s students together with the primary school staff. The activities provided were fun but focussed on the themes in order to help support the Year 6 children in their transition to their secondary schools. The Year 6 children were put into mixed school groups but soon got to make new friends with pupils from other schools. The day concluded with a whole deanery Mass led by Fr John Armitage and Fr Dan and Fr Michael. Every school contributed something to the Mass, such as readings, drama, singing and reflections. As many children said, it was a great day and it certainly helped in preparing them for their first day at secondary school.
